OK, I admit I am not fond of our President, Barack Obama, to put it mildly. I remain as concerned as I was during the campaign that his economic and foreign policies, my two hot buttons for executive leadership, are bad for the country and misguided – they will not achieve what is intended. But there is no excuse for his sarcasm and belittling of those critical of his policy. At a fundraiser yesterday, Obama was ‘amused’ by and had this to say about the tea party protesters on Tax Day:
“You would think they should be saying thank you.”
Americans are a generous people who respect honest disagreement. But when you make fun of people with legitimate concerns exercising their right to free expression, they will turn on you.
